This team includes officers of Additional Director and Joint Director level. Along with them, a 5-member team of CFSL and doctors from AIIMS have also arrived from Delhi. As soon as he reached Kolkata, CBI took the accused criminal into its custody. Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee has demanded that the CBI should ensure that the matter is resolved by Sunday.

After this, they took possession of all the documents of the investigation so far from Kolkata Police. CBI has formed three teams, which are investigating together by going to different places. One of these teams, RG Kar, visited the seminar hall of the Medical College and Hospital, where the body of the lady doctor was found on August 9. The second team of CBI took accused Sanjay Roy into custody from Kolkata Police after medical test.

The third team of CBI has been given the responsibility of coordination with Kolkata Police. CBI is going to present the accused in the court and demand extension of his custody. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday supported the Kolkata High Court’s decision to hand over the investigation into the horrific incident to the CBI, but criticized the CPI(M) and the BJP for politicizing the incident and provoking protests. The TMC supremo also demanded that the CBI solve the case by Sunday. He said that Kolkata Police has already completed 90 percent of the investigation.

Demanding hanging of the culprits, Mamata Banerjee has appealed to the protesting doctors to stop their work and return to work, as health services are being badly affected. He said, “We will follow the order of the Calcutta High Court and extend full support to the CBI. We have no problem with the CBI taking over the case as we want it to be resolved as soon as possible.”

She said, “I will personally take to the streets on Friday and we will demand that the CBI ensure that the case is resolved by Sunday. Kolkata Police has already completed 90 per cent of the investigation and the culprits should get death penalty.” Criticize me as much as you want, but I am shocked by the malicious campaign spreading on social media.

Let us tell you that this dreadful incident took place on the night of 8-9 August, when the dead body of a trainee doctor was found from RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. The age of this doctor was 31 years, who was on night duty that day along with three other doctors. Of these, two doctors were from the chest medicine department and one was a trainee. One employee was from the house staff of the hospital. That night all these doctors and staff had dinner together.

After this, the female doctor went to the seminar hall of the hospital to sleep at around 2 o’clock in the night. After this, Sanjay Roy came to the seminar hall from the back side and first brutally murdered the girl and then raped her. The most important thing is that this accused was neither from the hospital staff nor was any relative of any patient. He used to work as a civic volunteer for Kolkata Police.

Whenever a policeman was admitted to this medical college, he was present as an assistant to bring his medicines and to provide other help to him. But on the day this incident occurred, the accused had not come to the hospital for any work. That day, he came to the back part of the hospital to drink alcohol and after drinking alcohol, he watched obscene videos on his mobile phone. Then the crime was committed.

After this, at around 4.45 in the morning he was seen coming out of the seminar hall. After committing the crime, the accused tried to tamper with the evidence. Police have found evidence which shows that the accused had tried to wash blood stains from the crime scene. After going back home, he also washed his clothes. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of BNS.
