Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has raised questions after 25 tigers went missing in Ranthambore.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has expressed serious concern over the disappearance of 25 tigers from Ranthambore National Park. Jairam Ramesh called it “extremely shocking” and said it was truly worrying that 25 of the park’s 75 tigers had gone missing in the past year. However, the forest department has formed a committee to look into the matter. At the same time, many Congress leaders in Rajasthan have also questioned this.
Congress leader Pratap Singh Khachariyavas also made a sharp statement on this and said the disappearance of the LTTE in the BJP government was a matter of serious concern. He claimed that the BJP has nothing to do with neither tigers nor forests. This government is only busy baking political bread. Meanwhile, BJP state president Madan Rathore did not give any clear message on the issue.
The investigative committee will submit its report within two months
This is the first time there have been official reports of so many tigers disappearing in one year. Previously, it was reported that 13 tigers were missing between January 2019 and January 2022. However, the government took immediate action and set up a team to investigate. If negligence by park officials is discovered, the group will review surveillance records and recommend appropriate action. The committee will submit its report in two months, when the reasons for the tiger’s disappearance will be revealed.
What do wildlife experts say?
Ranthambore is world-famous for the ferocity and sightings of its tigers, but the disappearance has sparked new concern. Wildlife experts believe that as the population of Ranthambore increases, there is not enough space for them and hence the conflicts between them are increasing. Many times, weaker tigers are killed in this conflict, while some tigers leave their territories. In this case, the death reports of the weak tigers were not received in time and the department considered the tigers missing.
Questions were also raised about the monitoring system
In addition, questions have been raised about the supervision of officials and the working style of the supervisory system. Experts say tiger disappearances are on the rise due to less monitoring and tracking of tigers due to an emphasis on tourism.
There have been several incidents of tigers going missing in Ranthambore over the past few years. These included numerous reports of missing Tiger aircraft, including Tiger T-57s, Tiger T-114s, and T-79s. In response, wildlife experts said there is a need to strictly enforce a proper monitoring and tracking system for tigers.
