Today, by-elections are held for 15 assembly seats and 1 Lok Sabha seat in 4 states. Polling is underway for nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh and the Kedarnath assembly seat in Uttarakhand. A total of 90 candidates are contesting in the by-elections to 9 assembly seats in UP. Ghaziabad has the highest number of candidates (14), while Khair (Surakshit) and Sissamau (Kanpur) have the lowest (5 each). The nine UP seats that are going to poll include Katehari in Ambedkar Nagar, Karhal in Mainpuri, Meerapur in Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Majhwan in Mirzapur, Kanpur Nagar Sisamau, Khair in Aligarh, Phulpur in Prayagraj and Kundarki seats in Moradabad. Counting will take place on November 23.

Kedarnath seat by-election

Polling for the by-election to the Kedarnath assembly seat in Uttarakhand is underway, with a direct contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress party. While the BJP faces a challenge to retain its victory in the seat, the Congress is interested in defeating the BJP in Kedarnath after Badrinath. The by-election campaign ended on Monday night, but not before both parties did their best to win over voters. The parliamentary constituency has 90,540 voters, including 45,775 women voters. The by-election results will be announced on the 23rd.
