A major fake job scam was busted in Purnea district of Bihar. More than 200 youths from West Bengal were held hostage. Police conducted raids and released the youths. The raids were conducted at several cottages near the Pink City in Purniambagh where the youths were summoned in the name of jobs.
Revealing the entire incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthikeya Sharma said that four persons involved in the case have been arrested while the main culprit is still absconding.
In fact, the Purnia police received information that many youths from West Bengal were called here in the name of work and held hostage. The police immediately took action and raided several huts in the Sadar police station area. During this period, about 200 unemployed youths were found.
The youth told the police that they were promised a job at an Ayurveda company. In the name of work, he was first asked to pay Rs 5,000. When he reached here, he was taken hostage.

One of the four persons arrested in the case told the police that seven persons were involved in the racket. These persons used to lure innocent youths with promises of jobs, extort money from them and then held them hostage. Money was taken from the youth in the name of training. He was locked in a hut. The police have registered a case in this matter and further investigation is underway.
SP Karthikeya Sharma said the search is on for the mastermind. He will be arrested soon. He said the police are also investigating other such gangs which are also working to cheat the unemployed youth. The police appealed to the people to avoid any kind of scams in the name of jobs and report such incidents to the police immediately.
