What political parties are there?

Shiv Sena (Sind)- Earlier, there used to be only one Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, which is now divided into two parts. Earlier, the Shiv Sena’s electoral symbol was the bow and arrow. However, the party later split and formed two political parties. Eknath Shinde’s group formed a political party which received the name “Shiv Sena” from the Election Commission of India and its symbol was the bow and arrow. Following this decision of the Election Commission, the Sindhi Party was recognized as the original political party founded by Bala Saheb Thackeray. It is called Shiv Sena.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Bala Saheb Thackeray)- When the Shiv Sena party split into two factions, Uddhav Thackeray belonged to one of them. In this party formed independently from the Shiv Sena, the Election Commission allotted the torch election symbol to the Uddhav faction. Apart from this, the name of the party as “Shivsena Uddhav Bala Saheb Thackeray” was also approved. The Uddhav faction had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under this name and symbol.

NCP (Ajit Pawar)- Like Shiv Sena, the same happened with NCP. In fact, in July last year, Ajit Pawar broke off his alliance with most of the MLAs and backed Eknath Singh after he complained about Sharad Pawar’s leadership. The Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena government led by Eknath Shinde.

Thereafter, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar believed that the faction led by Ajit Pawar was the real NCP. Thereafter, Ajit Pawar’s organization was considered NCP. Later, in the election symbol dispute, the Supreme Court also said that the electoral symbol of the Nationalist Congress Party will still be retained by Ajit Pawar.

In this case, the electoral symbol of the NCP is the clock, led by Ajit Pawar. The NCP’s election symbol is an analog alarm clock. The clock is blue and has two legs and an alarm button. It is on the Indian tricolor flag.

NCP (Sharad Pawar)- Among the different factions of the NCP is the Sharad Pawar faction, whose new party has now been formed. Sharad Pawar’s party is called the Nationalist Congress-Sharad Pawar, and its election symbol is a man blowing a trumpet.

Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress – Apart from these four political parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress also play an important role in the state. In this regard, the BJP is part of the grand alliance and the Congress is part of Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Other parties – In addition to this, many types of political parties engage in electoral struggles either individually or jointly.
