18 years later, woman punished 3 players for rape; ‘I lied’

False rape case in the United States: The purpose of the law is to punish criminals. But many times, such cases also come to light in which these laws are misused and innocent people are proven guilty. A similar incident occurred in the United States 18 years ago. In fact, in 2006, a woman accused three Duke University players of rape. In 2006, this matter became a topic of discussion in the American media.

Women accept the truth

The woman who accused three players of rape is Crystal Mangum, a black woman. The woman has now publicly admitted that she lied and made up the rape story. Mangum said in an interview on the “Let’s Talk to Kate” podcast that she made up a story that was untrue. The players accused of rape, all white, attended parties where Crystal Mangum performed as a stripper.

no evidence found

Mangum, 46, said he committed perjury when I said he raped me, which he did not, the Associated Press reported. Those accused of rape are David Evans, Colin Finnerty and Reed Seligman. The case dragged on for a long time in court, although the accusations were later proven to be false. No DNA, witnesses or other evidence was found to corroborate Mangum’s story.

“All three will forgive”

Interestingly, it wasn’t long before Mangum himself was convicted of murder. Last month, the “Let’s Talk to Kate” podcast conducted an interview at a women’s recovery center in North Carolina. Mangum is being held at the rehabilitation center for a 2011 fatal attack on her boyfriend. Mangum will be released from prison in early 2026. Mangum said in the interview that he hoped the three men would forgive him and said they did not deserve this punishment.
